Welcome Back, Winter, and Thank You

It’s been a year or so. We never caught the one (ones?) who decided to take things illegally from Earl’s home, including a child’s camera, and including what would have been the final versions of our humble pair of winter songs (also a laptop computer).

Yet the unfinished versions survive!! A year later, it seems they’ve held up pretty well – well enough to be given out for free again, even. So here: a 100% recycled, paperless, downloadable gift from all the fellas in Lime Colony.

You can even burn ‘em onto a CD, slap a ribbon through the CD’s hole, and turn that ribboned CD into a badass Secret Santa present.

In only a few hours, and for only eight dollars, you will be able to witness live performances by Lime Colony, The Yellow Dress, Passenger & Pilot, and The JJ Schultz Band at “the best place to hear live music in San Francisco” (according to Rolling Stone and bottomofthehill.com). In case you don’t read limecolony.com with as much fervor as you should, here are the dirty details:

Doors are at 8:30pm

Cover is $8.00

Please come. We will be overjoyed if you do. Don’t let the rain stop you. Wear some galoshes, an oilskin jacket, or any combination of the two. Throw in an umbrella for good measure.

Earl and I keep a working list of all our songs. It’s called “Master Song List.” We try to update it about as often as we write or start writing anything new, though it of course gets ignored a lot of the time. Earl wrote two new songs this week, and that got me looking at the list again. Below is a sampling of comments that both of us have written for various songs on the list, under a column titled “Status/Notes.”

If you couldn’t decipher the title of this post, or the silly words above, there is going to be a thunderous rock-and-roll concert in less than a month. It’s going to be at Bottom of the Hill, San Francisco, CA. It’s going to be with The Yellow Dress. It’s going to be with Passenger and Pilot. It’s going to be with the JJ Schultz Band.

We are pleased to announce that we’ll be playing this Saturday, August 1st at the Beale Street Bar and Grill in San Francisco. The show starts at 8:30, $5 cover, 21+ etc. So put on your weathered, wrinkly old home-made Lime Colony t-shirt – the one you drew on in puff paint (remember puff paint?) – and make a trip to the conveniently and centrally located Beale Street Bar. Yes, it’s a little late, but that hasn’t stopped us from partying non-stop to celebrate the one-year anniversary of limecolony.com in its current format. How are we celebrating? Let me tell you. Earl celebrated by getting sick and having a doctor look in one of his ears. Tim celebrated by combing his hair in fun and interesting ways and growing his beard even longer. Colin celebrated by tattooing an exact replica of the website on his chest and back (not really), and staying really late at his job (really).

What will happen between now and the next birthday? It’s anyone’s guess!*

Thanks to Chad and Ryan at Monkey Hate Gomes for the kind words and nuanced inclusion of an old Lime Colony stand-by* on their podcast premier.

And I’m not just thanking them because they happen to share an apartment with me. It really was very nice of them to include some Lime Colony samples. Way nicer than the time they ate all of my ice cream from Trader Joe’s without asking but then replaced it (but then ate the replacement ice cream (which still hurts to think about)).

Also, a quick update for those of you yearning for still more Lime Colony news: we’re working as often as we can on songs for our new album. If I had to estimate when the project will be complete, I’d say summer ’09. But don’t let the wait get you down in the dumps! We should have a show or two before then, where you can get an early sampling of some of our newest songs.
