Do Not Drink This Holiday Cheer, Vol. II

Are you still there? Yes? Good! We’re still here and we’re glad you’re still there. We recorded something to show our appreciation for you still being there. It’s a holiday single type of thing, like we’ve done once before. It’s called Do Not Drink This Holiday Cheer, Vol. II and we hope you will give it a listen.

Did I mention it’s free? It is. To stream, to download, to import and to burn and to spin.

The talented Nick Fullmer created the cover art, which we deeply appreciate.

The songs are: 1) La fille aux cheveux de lin, which is a prelude by Claude Debussy which Earl arranged for Alto Saxophone and Horn (four of them); and 2) Please, Daddy (Don’t Get Drunk This Christmas), which was originally written by Bill Danoff and recorded by John Denver.

Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year.

With love,

Lime Colony

Where you can see Lime Colony next. (SOON.)

Dear Folks,

Some stuff is going down in Oakland, Calif.  Two things, really.

The first is, Lime Colony will be a musical presence right down the block from the next Oakland Art Murmur First Friday Art Walk (me, I call it OAMFFAW).  What’s happening: the bad boys of Lime Colony will be playing some tunes at the nice new location of Bittersweet Cafe.  It’s right next door to the also-pretty-new Oaklandish store.  It’s a short walk from all the splendid galleries of art that are open during these First Fridays.  And what we’ve been told is, there’s a hamburger truck parked right outside the door.  You go over there, you hear us, you eat a hamburg’, you see some local art.  That is:

Friday, June 1, 2012
live music 7-10PM
Bittersweet Cafe
1438 Broadway
Oakland, CA 94612

The second thing is, a few copies of our Lime Colony album can be found in CD form at 1-2-3-4 GO! Records in Oakland.  We are very pleased to have something on those shelves.  We highly recommend going to their store.  You don’t even have to buy our album.  You probably already have three copies anyway.  (WHO DOESN’T?)  But please actually go there and buy one more.  That is:

1-2-3-4 GO! Records
420 40th Street, Suite #5
Oakland, CA 94609

Thanks for still reading.  See you in Oakland.  We can’t wait.

Yours Sincerely,

Lime Colony

Welcome Back, Winter, and Thank You

Friday, December 16th, 2011

It’s been a year or so.  We never caught the one (ones?) who decided to take things illegally from Earl’s home, including a child’s camera, and including what would have been the final versions of our humble pair of winter songs (also a laptop computer).

Yet the unfinished versions survive!!  A year later, it seems they’ve held up pretty well – well enough to be given out for free again, even.  So here: a 100% recycled, paperless, downloadable gift from all the fellas in Lime Colony.

You can even burn ‘em onto a CD, slap a ribbon through the CD’s hole, and turn that ribboned CD into a badass Secret Santa present.

Go on.  Click that link up there and tell grandma and grandpa to crank up the hearing aids.  For Christmas.

Finally, thanks for reading.  To close out this festive update with a real bang, here is a re-link to the video for the second song in last year’s winter offering (Thank You).

Dan Roe made it.  When we saw it, we were blown away.  And we still are.  And we hope you enjoy it once again.

Finally finally, keep checking back here.  We’ll have an update on a January show really soon.

Earl and I keep a working list of all our songs.  It’s called “Master Song List.”  We try to update it about as often as we write or start writing anything new, though it of course gets ignored a lot of the time.  Earl wrote two new songs this week, and that got me looking at the list again.  Below is a sampling of comments that both of us have written for various songs on the list, under a column titled “Status/Notes.”

Status/Notes
“A lot of potential, but needs attention”
“Needs some re-writing”
“Needs a lot of re-write help”
“overplayed – shelved”
“Fun”
“Needs re-write”
“Needs a hefty re-write”
“Needs music?”
“Abandoned”
“Disowned”
“Synth”
“cover – partially developed”
“A joke song.  Needs synth version.”
“ugh”

I’ll post the respective songs later so we can all make a game of matching them with these comments.

BotH

See us!  Hear us!  Believe us!

If you couldn’t decipher the title of this post, or the silly words above, there is going to be a thunderous rock-and-roll concert in less than a month. It’s going to be at Bottom of the Hill, San Francisco, CA.  It’s going to be with The Yellow Dress.  It’s going to be with Passenger and Pilot.  It’s going to be with the JJ Schultz Band.

Fan A: “FOUR bands?”  Fan B: “Our dreams have come true.”  Fan A: “Yep.”

Read on for some more information…

MORE INFORMATION:

Cover? $8.  Doors? 8:30pm.  Ages? 21+.  The order, chronologically? The JJ Schultz Band; Passenger and Pilot; Lime Colony; The Yellow Dress.

This show was conceived and assembled based on pure, hard, concrete scientific facts.  Equations were sketched and numbers were scattered.  Facial hair was grown and then furiously shaved.  Nothing could make you happier.

Show Tomorrow!

Friday, July 31st, 2009

We’re getting our rears in gear, and you should too. Come see the world’s finest collection of musicians ever assembled (Earl, Tim, Colin, and our new bassist, Will) at the Beale Street Bar in SF. Tomorrow night. It will be extreme.

Lime Colony – Live on August 1st

Sunday, July 26th, 2009

Everyone,

We are pleased to announce that we’ll be playing this Saturday, August 1st at the Beale Street Bar and Grill in San Francisco. The show starts at 8:30, $5 cover, 21+ etc.  So put on your weathered, wrinkly old home-made Lime Colony t-shirt – the one you drew on in puff paint (remember puff paint?) – and make a trip to the conveniently and centrally located Beale Street Bar.  Summary and map follow:

Happy Birthday, Website!

Friday, May 15th, 2009

Yes, it’s a little late, but that hasn’t stopped us from partying non-stop to celebrate the one-year anniversary of limecolony.com in its current format.  How are we celebrating?  Let me tell you.  Earl celebrated by getting sick and having a doctor look in one of his ears.  Tim celebrated by combing his hair in fun and interesting ways and growing his beard even longer.  Colin celebrated by tattooing an exact replica of the website on his chest and back (not really), and staying really late at his job (really).

What will happen between now and the next birthday?  It’s anyone’s guess!*

Hugs,

Lime Colony

*We’re going to release a new album.

We’ve been podcast.

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009

Thanks to Chad and Ryan at Monkey Hate Gomes for the kind words and nuanced inclusion of an old Lime Colony stand-by* on their podcast premier.

mhg

And I’m not just thanking them because they happen to share an apartment with me.  It really was very nice of them to include some Lime Colony samples.  Way nicer than the time they ate all of my ice cream from Trader Joe’s without asking but then replaced it (but then ate the replacement ice cream (which still hurts to think about)).

Also, a quick update for those of you yearning for still more Lime Colony news: we’re working as often as we can on songs for our new album.  If I had to estimate when the project will be complete, I’d say summer ’09.  But don’t let the wait get you down in the dumps!  We should have a show or two before then, where you can get an early sampling of some of our newest songs.

K.I.T.,

Lime Colony
