The Make-Out Room

Tuesday, January 24th, 2012

It seems we’re gaining some momentum (p = mv, you guys).  We’re going to be rocking out with our _____ out (use your imagination) at The Make-Out Room (3225 22nd St., SF) on February 24th (bolded for visibility to the tl;dr crowd).  It’s a Friday and it’s early (7:30 pm) and it’s cheap(ish) ($8) and you have to be 21+ (sry, kiddos).  What better way to spend your Friday night at the end of February*?  There will be another band as well (though which hasn’t yet been completely nailed down).

So come on out, feel us out, drink a stout, catch a trout**, apply some grout, fake gout, don’t pout, downspout, flout, scout, snout, and*** make out to the sweet sweet music of Lime Colony (and a heretofore undetermined other band/artist).  We’d love to see you there.

Hi there – webcast

Thursday, January 13th, 2011

Hello there. The Holidays have been quite busy, what with all of the things to do and people to impress. As such, Lime Colony has been mostly out of commission. But worry not, friends; we have been practicing being good colonists and you will not be disappointed.

So, it is with healthy release of musical tension that we announce that Wednesday, January 19th, we will be playing a 1 hour webcast streamed from the Ex’pression College For Digital Arts (or ECFDA, pronounced ‘ecfda’).  The festivities will begin at 11:30pm at this link.  Additionally, the first 30 people who own brown pants (you’ll want to wear them) to RSVP to limecolony [at] gmail [dot] com will get to attend in actual person((!) (for free(!))), where you’ll no doubt be completely destroyed (in a very good way).  For those who (like us) have no inclination to put on clothes (save socks) after 8pm, crack open a can/bottle/flask/pony-keg of your favorite beverage, pop some corn and turn out the lights.

Until then, please enjoy this video of really fast go-karts (go-carts).

Do Not Drink This Holiday Cheer, Vol. I

Tuesday, December 21st, 2010

It’s that time of year again, when the men of Lime Colony make merry, avoid each other for around three straight weeks of vacation, and try and fail to put extra cinnamon sticks into every beverage imaginable.  And now this year’s time-of-year is double special, because we are sharing with you our first EVER release of a single.  It’s a holiday single.  It was stolen by thieves but partially revived.  It has an A-side and a B-side (I’m not sure which song is which).  It’s for you.

As noted above, you should not drink this particular holiday cheer, but we’ll certainly advise you to download it:

DOWNLOAD NOW!

Many thanks to Jennifer, who made it known very early on that she thought a holiday album would be a fantastic idea, and who graciously accepted the compromise of a less epic but just as heartfelt holiday single with an A-side and a B-side.  Unless you are a sour-breathed burglar, we sincerely hope you enjoy listening to this free treat, and we sincerely encourage you to share it with friends and family.

Warm Wishes,

Holiday Pleasantries

Sunday, December 19th, 2010

As noted at our various social media locations (Twitter, Facebook, maybe even Myspace), Earl’s house was recently burglarized. The best news to this point is that nobody was harmed, but the damage includes a broken window, two missing laptops, and Earl’s son’s camera.* One of the laptops contained at least 20 hours of mixing work for the holiday single we were hoping to release in the coming days.

In an effort to turn this stocking full of holiday lemons into something a little more ‘ade-ish, and as a big peppermint-flavored middle finger in the faces of pencil-dick burglars across this great country, we are releasing unfinished drafts of both the A and B sides of our single this week, in mp3 downloadable format. (Plan #1 – mailing the thieves a corked wine bottle full of one week’s worth of our farts – ended up being too complicated.)

The single, our first EVER, is titled “Do Not Drink This Holiday Cheer, Vol. I,” and is overflowing with two proudly unpolished recordings. The first, “Lo,” is a Lime Colonized version of a 400-year-old winter hymnal; the second, “Thank You,” is a less-than-400-year-old Lime Colony original. All told, it’s a nice low-key juxtaposition we hope everyone will enjoy as 2010 becomes 2011.

Fuck you, small-time house-burglars.

*Who steals a 4-year-old’s camera?

Lime Colony – Review’d

Wednesday, September 8th, 2010

Beloved Friends,

The nonpareil women and men over at Pirate Cat Ratio have reviewed our recently-released album, Lime Colony.  You can read it >>>>here<<<<.  We encourage you to check it out, if for no other reason than because you care so much.

Excerpt:

The album presents a nice exploration of sounds within the folk rock stamp, including an interesting array of instrumentation, with touches of ethereal moog, swelling brass, and, per their myspace page: “walpotar, sansula, accordion, and circus bees.” Well-produced and highly-listenable, Lime Colony is a very solid effort from an ambitious young band, well worth a few rotations for any set of curious ears.

Really, you’re the best friends a band could have.

Love,

Lime Colony
