August 11th Change of Venue

Monday, July 27th, 2009

Dearest Friends,

The show on August 11th (not 1st) at The Element Lounge has been moved to Blondie’s Bar and No Grill in SF. Not to worry, changes of any sort almost always cause us to rock harder. See you there.

Lime Colony! Live! 8/11!

Saturday, July 11th, 2009

Wonderful people of the world, rejoice!  Lime Colony is venturing into the spolight once more!  On August 11th, 2009, we will be playing live at Blondie’s Bar and No Grill in San Francisco (http://blondiesbar.com – see map below).  The event is called Collective Tuesday.  There will be a total of 10 (!) bands with musical styles ranging from hip-hop to indie-style rock, but don’t worry, most will play only one or two songs, while we, yes we, will be entertaining with a full 40 minute set.  At the end, in true battle-of-the-bands form, the audience will vote on their favorite band.  This is your night to shine, gentlefans, for you can contribute to the success of this, the greatest folky rocky band ever to come from a combination of Burlingame, Berkeley and Oakland.

Cover is $7,  21+

So come out and show your support for your very favorite band (at least your favorite band that is playing on 8/11 in San Francisco).

-Lime C.

A little taste of June 20th, 2009

Thursday, June 25th, 2009

Folks,

Someone recorded our little informal show on 6/20 and we present it to you now:

http://limecolony.com/6_20_09_party/

There’s a bit of wind noise, and, at times, it sounds as though there are 2 or 3 people in the audience.  Don’t worry about that.  Just listen to the rock music and live.

We’ve been podcast.

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009

Thanks to Chad and Ryan at Monkey Hate Gomes for the kind words and nuanced inclusion of an old Lime Colony stand-by* on their podcast premier.

mhg

And I’m not just thanking them because they happen to share an apartment with me.  It really was very nice of them to include some Lime Colony samples.  Way nicer than the time they ate all of my ice cream from Trader Joe’s without asking but then replaced it (but then ate the replacement ice cream (which still hurts to think about)).

Also, a quick update for those of you yearning for still more Lime Colony news: we’re working as often as we can on songs for our new album.  If I had to estimate when the project will be complete, I’d say summer ’09.  But don’t let the wait get you down in the dumps!  We should have a show or two before then, where you can get an early sampling of some of our newest songs.

K.I.T.,

Through the wine-spills and cheese-stains, we’ll be playing a fortified, amplified, award-winning set.  We apologize from the bottom of our crooked hearts for the impromptu notice.  See our Upcoming Shows section for more info.

Play bass with us?

Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

Dear Subscribers and Website Readers,

Lime Colony is looking for a kick-butt bass player (upright or electric, preferably both) willing to add  a bit of low-end to our recordings and occasional live performances.  After some great live shows and numerous open mic appearances (namely at the Hotel Utah), we’re now in the middle of recording an LP’s worth of new music (approximately) to be self-released.  We usually get together about once a week (Thurs or Sat nights) in the city. If you love music, and are good at playing it on a bass, then we’d love to hear from you.

To summarize what we’re looking for:
- a talented bass player and musician
- upright or electric or both, preferably
- music-lover
- easy-going
- sense of humor doesn’t hurt
- ability to sing back-up vocals a plus

To further summarize what you should and should not expect, please see below.

What you should expect:
- a friendly environment
- fairly informal but focused rehearsals and recording sessions, when schedules line up
- jokes (usually bad/not-funny)
- open-minded and good-humored bandmates
- to play semi-folk-inspired music, that is sometimes quiet, but sometimes tries to rock pretty hard

What you should NOT expect:
- pay
- a strict or frequent practice/rehearsal/recording schedule (see first paragraph)
- many, many gigs every month
- scary monsters
- fame

Love,

Lime Colony

Just to prove we’ve actually been recording songs.

Monday, February 9th, 2009

For everyone who visits limecolony.com, and even for those who don’t: we have posted a brand new, never before heard in public, song.  We’re calling it ”Houdini,” and you can listen to it at our Myspace page, or our Facebook page.  This song was written and performed by Earl K., engineered by Tim G., and features Siv Lie on violin, and it will appear on our upcoming full-length, which will be available later this year.

Please click on over and give it a listen.  We hope you like it.

See you soon,

Lime Colony

We’re ringing in the new year…

Sunday, January 18th, 2009

…with synth.  If you haven’t already, you can hear a new, futuristic version of the score we wrote for Tough Love.  You can find it over at our page on Myspace, or over at our page on Facebook!  We’re also ringing in the new year with words that are actually hyperlinks!  Please enjoy.

Happy Martin Luther King, Jr. Day in advance.

Egg nog gets all the street cred.
